Luke graduated from the UPenn Graduate School of Education in 2012 with a Master’s Degree in Counseling and Mental Health Services and later graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2015 with a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling focusing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. He spent 4 years (including his year-long internship) working at an inpatient behavioral health hospital where he collaborated with a team of social workers, nurses and psychiatrists to develop strengths-based recovery approaches to help patients dealing with both long term and acute mental health issues. Luke has provided support to primarily adult clients presenting with various mood disorders, anxiety, co-occurring disorders, trauma histories, psychosis, and substance addiction.
Utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques, Luke works with his clients to increase self-awareness, and practices with a person-centered approach while prioritizing the basic human need to feel heard and supported. Considering that stress can manifest both mentally and physically, it is essential to take a personalized and customizable approach with each client since therapy is not one size fits all. Luke strives to use his therapeutic tools and experience in conjunction with the strengths and skills each client already possesses to develop a healthier sense of self and promote general well-being.
Luke primarily works with adults and young adults dealing with anxiety, depression, limited stress-management skills, low self-esteem and negative self-talk, gender identity issues, LGBTQ concerns, and life transitions.
