Every day gives you choices, sometimes too many choices. Yet, it is “your” choice to make today or tomorrow. Through practicing as a psychotherapist for the past ten years, being a parent, professor, and an athlete I have experienced many people having difficulties making choices. So many of us get stuck with feelings of depression, fear and anxiety that making even one choice becomes too difficult. It helps to have someone assist by listening, guiding and being a support. This role is a role that I feel comfortable with as a therapist. My therapeutic style is best described as engaged and supportive. I work hard with my clients with helping them build up their existing strengths and acquiring new strengths and skills. Each therapeutic session we will assess your concerns, struggles and needs to establish a game plan that you will be able to work with and use on a daily basis. These established skills will strengthen your foundation of being your true self and feeling more empowered to enhance your quality of life. The approaches I use incorporate the mind, body and spirit with the understanding of the neuroscience of your brain.
I have worked in the field of mental health illnesses and substance use for the past ten years. As a therapist, I have counseled clients between the ages of 14 and 80 years individually and in-group settings. My clinical areas of concentration include various mental health issues, such as, bipolar and depressive disorders, PTSD, and attention deficit disorders and alcohol and substance abuse disorders. I have facilitated many types of groups, which have included women, adolescents, intensive outpatient, and relapse prevention.
I received my doctorate degree at Widener University and hold two master degrees in Health, Fitness and Lifestyle Management and Social Work. My bachelor’s degree is in clinical psychology. I am an adjunct professor for Widener University teaching courses on addiction and mental health disorders. I provide individual and group supervision to therapist for credentialing toward their clinical license.
Through the years I have completed twenty marathons, several triathlons and currently challenge myself with ultra-marathons. When I am not working or running, I enjoy the company of my husband, two children, three cats and two golden retrievers.
