Elyse Parcher, MS, LPC, NCC, E-RYT-200, RYT-500

Psychotherapist, Yoga Therapist

Since 2014, Elyse has primarily specialized in treating eating disorders. She started as an outpatient therapist for the “Dine” program, facilitating weekly meal support groups for individuals in recovery looking for additional support. Elyse also worked as an eating disorder therapist in an intensive outpatient program and in a partial hospitalization program and was the clinical director of Seeds of Hope in Center City. Elyse has also assisted with developing eating disorder programming at Recovery Centers of America.

In addition to counseling, Elyse has also taught yoga for 10+ years and has received extensive training in yoga for body image and trauma-sensitive yoga. Elyse is currently working toward her 1000-hour yoga therapy certification at Yoga Life Institute. If you ever come across the book, Yoga and Eating Disorders, you will see that Elyse wrote Chapter 3!

In private practice, Elyse provides highly individualized treatment that supports progress toward specific goals established with her clients. Elyse is an advocate of using sessions to do the work, rather than just talking about it (although talking has its place too). Sessions can include yoga, meal support, grocery shopping, clothes shopping, going outside on a walk, or anything else relevant to treatment that one may struggle to do on their own.

As someone who has recovered from an eating disorder, Elyse is passionate about instilling hope that full recovery is possible. She believes in all of her clients, even when they struggle to believe in themselves. Elyse emphasizes self-worth and identity as crucial components of the recovery process and is most interested in the person beneath the eating disorder. Elyse incorporates yoga and other somatic techniques to enhance mind-body connection, as this is often severed in those struggling with an eating disorder. Elyse views the eating disorder as a shield of protection, and understands why it’s so difficult to let it go. She also knows, however, that a more fulfilling and vibrant life awaits if you do.
